{Saturday Shopping } 5/20/17

I am still on the hunt for unusual blue accents for the new living room area.
Amazon was quick to point out these pillow covers.
I love that they were a little different and will add some print to the area.
And they were cheap... less that $4 each... SOURCE.

{Simple Decorating Ideas} Adding A Touch Of Burlap

Welcome back dear sweet followers...
Today's idea is easy on the pocketbook and quick to do.
But these little touches are so fun and make a big impact.

Spring and Summer are my favorite seasons.
I love warm weather and the brighter colors we can add to our spaces.
So today I am taking a hum-drum little terra cotta pot and faux sedum and adding some country charm.

{Repurposed Furniture} Sweet Vintage Dresser

We've had much more spare time since selling our farmhouse...
And waiting on the new house to be done.
Spare time is not a good thing for me.
I think of too many things I want to be doing.
This is what I found last week.
This lovely vintage girl with a really bad paint job.
And she was CHEAP.... forty bucks cheap.
Do we have room for a project... no.
Do we have any room to store it... no.
But she came home with us.

{Saturday Shopping} May 13, 2017

Yes, I have been in a shopping mood.
I go in phases.
But with the new build I am in full on hunt mode.

So here are a few things I really took to this week.
Maybe it's just what you are looking for too.

{Sweet Tea Diary} May 12, 2017

Yep, she's gone off the deep end.
Gone from talking to herself--- to doing a online diary.
Hee... it was bound to happen.

But sometimes I have things to say that don't have a thing to do about design.
So here is my new thing...

Starting With A Firm Foundation

Yes, finally after all this wait....

They are starting on the house this week!
YEAH!!!

No, nothing really to show you.
Unless you like to see a porta-potty,
rebarb and concrete blocks.

But it is so great to see something happening at our lot!

So I wanted to share with you something I did at the Farmhouse.
And something I am doing this week for this home...

I am burying a Bible in the Foundation Of Our Home.

New Computer and My Vintage Desk

Yes... another new post from me!
I've been on a roll this week.
Part of it is I got a new computer.... after 7-8 years nursing my old desktop.
I know, it was a miracle it lasted that long.
But I now have upgraded... to a touch screen desktop.

{Color Inspirations} Denim Blues

So yes, I am starting to find things for the new house.
Today I ordered these lovely drapes from Wayfair after looking online for quite a bit.
I had been inspired by another home's blue drapes
and how they drew so much attention in a neutral room.

The Perfect Floor Lamp....

Yes, I've been shopping.
Guilty.
But I will tell you... I needed it!
ya...ya... I know.
The little rental living room is so dark during the day.
I am missing all my natural light.
My last floor lamp broke in the move....
So I've been on the hunt for a few months.

When we moved down here and I thought I would be a die hard HomeGoods gal.
Don't get me wrong... you can get me in there any day and I will find something.

But Kirkland's has my heart...♥
And it's where I found my perfect floor lamp.

It has the prefect amount of distressing.
And it is HUGE!
68 inches tall... that's almost 6 ft!

Parting Ways With Favorite Things....

So I've been doing some thinking.
I know... dangerous right?

For this post I will be using some of the photos of my old blog,

I've been thinking about how I want the new house to feel.
More than ever before, it is a new slate.

That is a good thing, and a bad thing for me.
You see... I'm a creature of habit.

When I talk about the new build it seems so far off.
But in a few months I will be unpacking and deciding what  to use.

Which is why I think I need to start now.
Parting with a few of my things...
Okay, more than a few.

Welcome To Several New Followers....

When I opened my email this morning I was so happy...
To see so many new follower requests!

I have missed blogging so much.
But some days with us in the rental...
it feels like a hotel room.

Not  the pretty, homey spaces I like to share.
But soon, very soon... I hope to be settled into our new home.
And sharing all the spaces and ideas.

Let's Talk About The Brick Color....

Hello again and welcome back!
These past few days have been a whirlwind of design choices.
It has been fun, confusing and time consuming.
One thing I knew is that I did not want any plain solid colored brick.
So when I saw the "Aspen" with a brown tinted base and smeared grouted accents...
I fell in love.

Ceiling Fans and More Lighting Decisions....

Hello again... more design decisions today.
I went to the lighting center and wow....
There is a mind blowing amount to choose from.
I knew this, but the size of this shop was amazing.

Okay, I am taking risks this time!
I love the three blade fan shown above.
It is 60 inches across and so neat.
I have the girls vote... hope hubby likes it too.

Picking Out Pretty Lighting...

Hello again, and welcome back to Suddenly Southern!

Today I wanted to share a few lighting choices....
I love how many wonderful options we all have now a days.....
In the entire house I am doing rubbed bronze/brown metals.
So even if the pics don't show it... it will be in bronze.

This first is a lantern style and I really like it.
I am thinking of using it over my island.
It is huge, and will make quite a statement.

Making Decorating Decisions.... The Color Pallette and Design

2814 square feet.... doesn't sound so big...
but somehow its huge when you're picking out every square inch of it.

Yes, tomorrow is a long awaited day...
Our appointment at the design center at Stoneridge Homes.

It has been a long two months coming for me to drive myself nuts about colors.
The walls were really simple... three colors...

Repose Grey - SW 7015
Main Color----a greige (bit of beige) great room, kitchen, entry, hall.
Krypton SW 6247
a grey with blues... master bedroom, master bath, dining.

Monorail Silver- SW 7663
a true grey...for kids rooms, bathrooms, utility, study.

Okay, good start....

Spring In Alabama....And Big News

Hello again, I know it has been too long again.
A lot has happened since we last chatted.
Its been a little over a week since we emptied out our Indiana farmhouse.
It was exhausting and emotional.  But it is all in the bigger plan.
Part of my heart will always be in Indiana with family and friends.
But it is a welcomed, warm feeling of hopefulness that I have now.
Spring is beautiful in Huntsville.
There are blooming trees and plantings everywhere.
One of the first things I noticed is all the landscape in the area.
Not just homes, but along freeways, parking lots and businesses.
I love all the lushness and cozy hometown feel.
Plus daffodils bloomed before Valentines Day... crazy right?

New Beginnings.....

Welcome new friends and followers....
well... followers to come!
This is my brand new endeavor.
My previous blog was called "Creative Country Mom"
Maybe you have heard of it?
Lol... I hope so, I hung out there for nine years.
But we are selling our farmhouse and have moved to Alabama.
New home, new start, new blog.
It just felt like it was time.
